    Officer Stephen Findysz, Star #17730
Officer John Sullivan, Star #3114
Officer Anna Grassi, Star #3494
On Feb. 6, Officers Stephen Findysz, John Sullivan and Anna Grassi were working in the 17th District when a call came about a man attempting to hang himself from a bridge. The officers knew that there was a bridge by Gompers Park and proceeded there.
As he approached the bridge, Officer Sullivan observed the subject with a noose tightly drawn around his neck, with the other end tied to the bridge. Officer Sullivan proceeded to- ward the subject, talking to him while he secured the man’s
knees. Officers Grassi and Findysz then cut the rope. The offi- cers lowered the subject and removed the rope from his neck. The subject was then transported for treatment.
Without the quick actions of these officers, the outcome could have been tragic.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge 7 presents Officers Findysz, Sullivan and Grassi with Life Saving Awards.
