2020 Chicago Lodge 7 Gun Safety Days
Safety Zone
Dedication to ensuring safety on the job filled the Chicago FOP Hall on Sept. 29 – 30 during Lodge 7’s annual Gun Safety Days. Members lined up to have their firearms checked, cleaned and repaired.
The emphasis was on “safety” as the title of the event indi- cated. The event also provided gunsmiths, retailers, manufac- turers and supporting businesses the opportunity to educate members and answer their questions about all matters related to their firearms.
From cleaning to inspecting to repairing to securing guns, Lodge 7 Firearms Safety Days provided members with a pleth- ora of resources to better manage use and storage of their duty weapons and non-duty firearms.
Just under 300 members participated in this event, having their service weapons cleaned, inspected and if necessary, re-
paired. More than 1,000 weapons were checked over the course of the two-day event.
Lodge 7 First Vice President Mike Mette coordinated the event with the help of Officer Sean Hayes from the Department’s Fire- arms Training Unit. Members were also able to visit the vendors who exhibited and get information about all aspects of firearms care and usage. Those vendors included:
• Kiesler Police Supply • Sig Sauer
• Smith & Wesson
• Rock River Arms
• Ruger Firearms
• Ray O’Herron Co.
• Acme Sports
• Shield U Insurance Group
