New K9 statue on duty
The 16th District welcomed its newest member last month. “Jefferson” is one of the 54-inch tall painted Ger- man Shepherd statues available through the Chicago Po- lice Memorial Foundation’s ongoing K9s for Cops art pro- gram.
Officers in the Jefferson Park-based district contribut- ed the money necessary to purchase the statue. Funds raised through the program will be split between CPMF and PAWS Chicago. Artist Peter Bucks, himself a Chicago Police Officer, painted the fiberglass statue with faces and places significant to the Northwest Side district. d
