Second District’s real-life fairytale
Officers from 002 proved just how far they are willing to go to serve members of the communi- ty when they helped provide one high school girl with a magical prom night fit for the silver screen.
High school senior Sarah In- gram had nearly given up hopes of attending the prom when she was struggling to find a dress and did not have the funds to purchase a new one. School bullying also discouraged the girl from attend- ing the night, which completes the high school experience for most youth.
Second District Officers Daliah Goree and Denise Gathing refused to let Ingram miss out, and they committed their efforts to making the high school student the belle of the ball. Officer Eric Watson, along with Goree and Gathing, became the “glam squad” unit that saved the day by giving Ingram a head- to-toe makeover. A dress, accesso- ries, hair and nail services were all
provided. The team even managed to manifest a prince charming for the evening: Khalil Everage from the TV series “The Chi” accompa- nied Ingram to her prom. The two were given a fairytale sendoff that was attended by one of Ingram’s television idols, Val Warner of “Windy City Live.”
The 2nd District officers could hardly believe Ingram’s stunning transformation as she departed in a limousine for a night that she, and the officers involved, certainly would never forget.
