A Rockin’ good time

Chicago police officers and firefighters joined together on Aug. 12 for the fifth annual “Rock the Badges” music festival at the Copernicus Center on the city’s Northwest side.
The day kicked off with “Ride with the Badges” motorcycle run which rolled 70 miles around the city and suburbs before returning to center for an entertaining eight hours of live mu- sic featuring seven first-responder bands – including CPD per-
formers YelloJaket, Jenny Rockis and Erik Lauren and the Blue Blood Sinners.
Proceeds from the event went to benefit charities, including the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation which offers finan- cial support to the families of officers killed or catastrophically injured on the job. Since its launch in 2013, the event has raised approximately $50,000 that has been split between CPMF and charities supporting the fire department. d
