Cops in the Community
As the summer faded away, Chicago Police Officers around the City made sure it didn’t end without a few more fun and memorable engagement experiences in the neighborhoods that they serve. Here’s a look at a few of those moments from the past month:
11th District o cers grabbed brooms, rakes and garbage bags to help beautify the neighborhood as part of the CAPS “Sweep N’ Greet” program in late August.
On foot, on bicycles and on horseback, o cers descended on the lakefront during the city’s 2017 Air and Water Show. While hundreds of thousands of spectators looked to the sky and water, CPD kept its eyes on the crowds to make sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time.
There were plenty of signs of appreciation, including hugs, as 12th District o cers interacted with youngsters at the Union League Boys & Girls Club Day Camp last month.

A bike patrol o cer in the 25th District lent a helping hand to this young bicyclist during a ride through the neighborhood.
The West Bucktown Neighborhood Association’s August block party proved to be a perfect way for o cers in the 14th District to connect with residents — and let the kids climb around on a few di erent police vehicles.
Donning their protective eyewear, 9th District o cers gazed into the sky to catch a glimpse of the Aug. 21 solar eclipse during a community back-to- school event.
