Commander Bauer
New police-fire training facility to bear Bauer’s name
Officials announced on Feb. 18 that the city’s new Joint Pub- lic Safety Training Academy will be named for Commander Paul Bauer as a testament to his commitment and integrity as a pub- lic servant.
“I think the greatest way we can honor him is to name one of our facilities after him,” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at Bauer’s funeral.
The new facility will be located in West Garfield Park and is expected to include indoor and outdoor training spaces that extend the current training capabilities of the police and fire departments, as well as offer more joint training opportunities, city officials said. d
