Cops in the community
Giving back to the community is as much a summer tradition as block parties and cookouts. Across the city, officers are taking a few minutes – or even more — of their time to hang out and connect with resi- dents of all ages. Here are some of the highlights from the past month.d
O cers joined kids in the 11th District as part of the “Playstreet” pro- gram, which parked a jumpy house in the 3200 block of West Maypole in mid-July. One o cer even took on the hula hoop challenge with some youngsters.
During a “100 Blocks 100 Churches” event on July 15, o cers in the 15th District showed their support for residents who took to the streets with a call for “Unity in the Community.”
In the Englewood neighborhood, O cer Joshua Shelton led a circle with neighbors at 55th and Shields to pray for peace and for police.
