Notice of class actions against FOP
Lodge 7 and its telemarketers,
Callan Publishing, et al
In 2003, two class actions were filed against FOP Lodge 7 and its telemarketers (Defendants) by FOP Lodge 7 members who were duty-disabled Chicago Police Officers, or who were spous- es or children of officers killed in the line of duty (the Classes). The allegations include that during the fundraising programs, Defendants advised the public and businesses that the dona- tions would benefit the Class. It is alleged that the Defendants raised approximately $4.6 million. The telemarketers received approximately 78 percent, FOP Lodge 7 received approximate- ly 22 percent and the Class did not benefit or receive any of the funds. FOP Lodge 7 and defendants deny that the money was raised for the exclusive benefit of the plaintiffs and contend that the money was raised for the benefit of FOP Lodge 7 and related expenses.
If you are a current or former FOP Lodge 7 member who was duty-disabled or a spouse or child of an officer who was killed in the line of duty between March 23, 1998 and Dec. 31, 2003, you will have the option to be included as a member of the Classes. If you do not opt out of the Class Actions by Sept. 15, 2018, you will be considered a member of the actions.
Many of you will receive by mail a “Class Action Notice” from the Law Office of Martin L. Glink, who is representing the Classes. The notice describes the class action lawsuits and the steps you must take by Sept. 15, 2018 to secure your rights thereunder. You can contact the law office of Martin L. Glink at 847-394-4900 for a copy of the “Class Action Notice” aor email mrothmann@glinklaw.com.
