Easterseals extends its friendship to even more campers
Camp FRIENDship is a summer camp designed to help chil- dren ages 5 to 14 ac-
quire social skills within a positive, safe and fun learning environment. The camp is tailored for children with autism spectrum disorder, non- verbal learning disabilities, intellectual disabil- ities and children with similar social skills defi- cits.
Campers participate in a variety of fun social activities, including in-camp field trips. They receive social skills training from staff members highly trained and well educated in this field. Peer models are integrated into the camp to en- courage all campers to interact throughout the day.
Easterseals was able to extend Camp FRIEND- ship to two locations this year; one was held at one of our schools, Easterseals Academy in Chi- cago and the other was held in Northwest In- diana. We are excited to continue to grow our camp in order to reach more individuals. d
