Cops and the community
Spring slowly emerged in March, bringing with it a chance for people around Chicago to get outside again and, in small doses, get back to normal activities. CPD Officers shared in the celebratory and simple moments as a reminder that everyone is in this together.

When one of the city’s greatest traditions — dye- ing the Chicago River green for St. Patrick’s Day — made a surprise return on March 13, members of the CPD Marine Unit were proud to have a front- row seat to make sure it happened without a hitch.
Students at West Ridge Elementary School re- turned to their building on March 4, and 24th Dis- trict Officers were there to greet them.
16th District officers teamed up with their fire- fighter counterparts to join a special neighbor- hood parade for resident Florence DiSilvestro as she celebrated her 100th birthday in early March.
In the 20th District, CAPS officers made the most of a sunny spring day by handing out backpacks and sunglasses to kids having fun at the Mather Park playlot.
Angelina Jimenez, the daughter of fallen Officer Samuel Jimenez, received a surprise from 22nd Dis- trict Officers, who stopped by to help make her seventh birthday special.
