My local chapter, NJ Goldfinch, was having their
annual fundraising luncheon and I volunteered to paint a centerpiece. The surface was a large gourd. As I thought about the design I imagined a smile that the chapter members and guests would have when looking at the delight that the piece would portray. I thought that a Santa with a very cute smile would provide that smile. Please paint with a happy smile and surely your smiley Santa will share his joy.
PREPARATION
Sand and seal wood with sealer and let dry. Lightly sand again and wipe clean.
Basecoat the top surface with Buttermilk and sides with Uniform Blue.
Apply lines for face (no details), hat fur, beard and mittens.
Note: Each step is done primarily by applying the same color for each paint area.
