SANTA
Step 1: Basecoat face with mix of Flesh Tone and Light Buttermilk (1:1).
Apply Cadmium Red with a cosmetic sponge. Just tap on background around hat fur and stronger on mittens. The color
should be uneven, leaving some of the blue showing.
Add face details lightly.
Step 2: Brush-mix Burnt Orange and Flesh Tone and float around face, under eyebrows and inside (under nose) top and bottom of the mustache. With chisel edge of brush, line in hair over forehead, on mustache and on beard. Softly and at random – not too much (see step-by-steps.)
Step 3: With Bittersweet Chocolate and liner brush, line eyes (note curve to line) and add eyeball.
With Cadmium Red float cheeks, bottom of nose (10 o’clock to 3), lips and eye shadow around top of eyes (see Santa face
detail 1.)
Step 4: Using Light Buttermilk and old scruffy brush, tap on hat fur and cuffs. With liner brush and Light Buttermilk add eyebrows with short curved lines. With rake brush and Light Buttermilk gently add fine random lines to hair on forehead, mustache and beard.
Add highlight with Light Buttermilk under the eyes on curve of cheeks, top of nose (10 o’clock to 3) and on upper edge of lip between edges of mustache (see Santa face detail 2.)

Step 5: With Uniform Blue, apply a soft float on hat fur above face and lower edge of fur above mustache (right and left sides), both sides of cuffs, on mittens next to cuff and between thumb and hand. With light touch add a few strokes to beard, mustache and hair (see Santa face detail 3.)
Step 6: With large brush and Uniform Blue slip- slap around Santa leaving a trace of red base. This is to blend the color of the sides to the top of sled.
Step 7: With rake brush and Light Buttermilk paint long, wispy lines (move freely and lightly) on beard, mustache and hair. If you feel it is not highlighted enough go back and add a few more strokes with Titanium White. With scruffy brush and Light Buttermilk tap in highlight on fur of hat and cuffs.
Add Antique Gold float on mustache around nose, under lip, on thumb and center of mittens.
Step 8: With liner brush and Bittersweet Chocolate reinforce eye lines and add several lashes to outside of eyes. Brush-mix Bittersweet Chocolate and Cadmium Red and float in the mouth (see Santa face detail 4.)
Add highlight of Light Buttermilk between eyes above nose, on upper portion of cheeks using a back-to-back float. There is a tiny highlight on top middle of the nose, above the eyes and on the bottom lip. This is done with a float and just a soft easy touch. With a Burnt Orange and Flesh Tone brush-mix add two small chisel edge lines at the outer corner of each eye.
