SUNFLOWER PETALS
STEP 2
Sunflower Petals
Shade the bottom of yellow petals with thin lines of a Medium Orange color. Shade the base of the orange petals with thin lines of a Dark Orange color.
Sunflower Center
Use the tip of the no. 10/0 liner to add Medium Orange dots, as shown in the photo. Note that the dots are more concentrated around the center oval and then get smaller and become sparser toward the outer edges. You still want some solid Burnt Umber showing around the outer edge.
Leaves
Shade the leaves with a Medium Green color. Make thin lines with a no. 10/0 liner brush. I always try to use the Glass-Art liner first, but I will switch to a synthetic brush if
I need an even thinner line. The large leaves have thin shading lines coming out from the center vein on both sides, then choose only one side to pull thin lines in from the outside edge. The small leaves only have thin lines on one side coming up from the bottom. Then add a thin line next to the center vein on the other side. You always have the option to go back a step and add Light Green lines if you get carried away with the Medium Green ones.
