Message from the Founder
We moved from Hamilton Street to Short Street (King's Park) in 1988 with 80 students. Within 15 years we had
grown to more than 1000 students with the need for more facilities. Our search began, and the land at
Providence proved the best location. We named the site Providence as this means God's provision.
Despite many obstacles, through prayer and perseverance, we developed the land by sales, site works and
buildings. God's provision of land, finance and a Christian builder enabled much to be achieved, and the
wonderful facilities we have now are a testimony to the endeavours of the School Board, staff and the MCF
Congregation.
We are justifiably proud of the Providence site and the excellent service it provides for education from
Ps. Rob Kindergarten to Year 6 and the 500 plus children that are taught there. We have further development plans
Booth-Jones for Providence to enhance the facility, so watch this space.
My thanks to all involved in the development and ongoing success of Providence in whatever capacity you
find yourself in.
Message from the Principal
Mackay Christian College celebrates 10 years on the Providence Campus this year. This campus, originally
built for Prep to Year 5 is now home to student from our Early Learning all the way to Year 6. As with any
school, it is not the buildings that make the difference, it is the fabulous teachers and support staff who take
every opportunity to love the students each day. That being said, it certainly doesn't hurt to have such a
beautiful campus with wide open spaces for running and playing between purpose built spacious
classrooms.
We also have plans for the future, including an outdoor undercover area, a purpose-built library space, and
some adventure-based playgrounds, with a lot of shady trees. I can't wait to see what it will look like in ten
Dr. Barclie more years!

Message from Head of Junior School
2021 Marks 10 years of Mackay Christian College Junior School at Providence Campus. On 1 April 2011, staff
were given a Student Free Day to move the whole of the primary school to the new Junior Campus.
Term One, 2011, was an interesting term as staff and students gradually packed up the classrooms, while
continuing to teach and learn in the midst of boxes. The Library worked for weeks, separating all the books
and resources into Primary and Secondary categories. The library staff then worked their way through the
shelves cling-wrapping and numbering each bundle of books, ready to be reinstalled, like a giant puzzle, in
their new library. The Providence library was originally in Orange Village and took up two classrooms (rooms
9 & 10).
Robyn Initially, the Junior School was Prep to Year 5, with Year 6 remaining at King’s Park as part of the Middle
Hopper School. In the last 10 years, four Pre-Prep (Kindy) classes have been added and Year 6 joined the rest of the
primary school at Providence Campus.
Mrs Alison Bannister was the first Head of Junior School on the new campus. Each of the buildings had
several empty classrooms in those early days. In 2021, every room is in use and each year level has 3 classes
of children. The oldest students, Year 5 from that first year, graduated in 2018, and the original Prep students
are currently in Year 10.
God has had His hand over Providence Campus, staff and students, and quality education, through a
Christian world view continues to bless and grow all at Mackay Christian College Junior Campus.
