A MESSAGE FROM THE
HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL
Senior School at Mackay Christian College is about
growing students to meet the challenges of the
future. We remain focused on providing the best
opportunities for young people to prepare for life,
work and study beyond school.
We seek to bring a balance of support and
challenge to equip students academically, socially
and emotionally to confidently face the challenges
their individual pathways will provide as they seek
to fulfil God’s plan for their lives.
There is a lot of talk in education about 21st
Century Skills – critical thinking, creative thinking,
communication, collaboration and teamwork,
personal and social skills, and, ICT skills. At Mackay
Christian College these things have for a long
time been part of our Vision of a Learner. For the
last 15 years we have been striving to support and
encourage students to become “self-directed;
strategic producers; responsive communicators;
creative reflective investigators; empathetic servant
leaders and resilient problem solvers.”

Our goal continues to be to provide opportunity
for students to build and demonstrate these skills
through a variety of Senior schooling options
and extra-curricular activities while maintaining
a strong focus on the core skills of English and
Mathematics supported by a cross curricular
approach to mastering a range of IT Platforms.
As Head of Senior School I am excited to work
with the whole dedicated MCC team to bring all
our effort to work with parents and families to
encourage students to test and stretch themselves
to ‘Become all God wants them to be.’
