Grant Enfinger embarks upon the third full season of his seven-year NASCAR
Camping World Truck Series career after showing remarkable improvement with
passing season.
He finished 11th with a victory in 2017 and fifth a year ago with another
victory. The next step, he believes, is a spot in the Championship 4
this season.
Enfinger was in position to advance to the championship finale
a year ago when he led with four laps remaining at the IMS
Raceway in Avondale, Ariz. His Ford F-150 wasn’t quick
enough on the restart and he faded to a fourth-place
finish.
FEATURED DRIVERS “It wasn’t for a lack of effort,” he said.
Actually, it was a good achievement for ThorSport
Racing. The four-truck team switched from Toyotas to
Fords, ending their six-year relationship. Despite the
move, three of four drivers – Enfinger, Ben Rhodes and
Matt Crafton – all qualified for the NASCAR Playoffs.
Enfinger used points to lock himself into the playoffs, and he got
a free pass to the second round with a victory at Las Vegas. That
win came when race leader Brett Moffitt ran out of gas during the third
overtime restart.
Enfinger was in position to take advantage of Moffitt’s misfortune by winning
the Busch Pole Award and leading a race-best 33 laps.
The driver from Fairhope, Ala., came oh-so close at Eldora Speedway. He ran
door-to-door across the finish line with ThorSport teammate Chase Briscoe
with Briscoe winning by inches.
“I feel like we had a position on him, we were pretty good right there,” said
Enfinger. “He used me up and I was going for it. He didn’t do anything dirty, it
