               4. Apologizing

               To apologize is to tell someone that you are sorry for having done something that has
               caused him inconvenience or unhappiness.

               Examples:

                   1.   I must apologize to Isabel for my late arrival.

                   2.   I'd like to apologize for my trouble making.

                   3.  Trains may be subject to delay on the northern line. We apologize for any
                       inconvenience caused.


               Here are some expressions you can use to make and respond to apologies

               Example Dialogues


               Person 1: Excuse me, do you know what time it is?
               Person 2: Yes, it’s two o’clock.


               Person 1: I beg your pardon. Would you mind helping me a moment?
               Person 2: Certainly. What can I do to help?


               Person 1: I’m very sorry for stepping on your foot!
               Person 2: Don’t worry about it. It’s very crowded on this train.
