10 THings You May Not Know About Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama

Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama is perhaps the single most kitschy location at the Walt Disney World Resort. Inspired by classic Americana and roadside attractions, and of course all things dinosaur, Animal Kingdom’s smallest land is home to brightly colored cartoony dinos, lots of fun, and one of Disney World’s most misunderstood storylines.
The story behind Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama follows the pair’s adventures to cash in on the tourists coming to see fossils (and eventually time travel tours) at the nearby Dino Institute. The two turned their gas station into a souvenir shop, filled to the brim with dinosaur gifts and souvenirs all displayed alongside vintage gas pumps. Their nearby fishing lodge became Restaurantosaurus, with the “osaurus” being added to the restaurant’s title and nearly every piece of signage inside by a tipsy Dino Institute intern, and outside their parking lot was transformed into a fun carnival atmosphere with rides, games, and of course eye catching dinosaurs and photo opps.
