Primeval Whirl Shares the Same Story as DINOSAUR...
Really! You may have missed the storyline of Primeval Whirl while you’re whipping around turns and bracing for the drops of DINOSAUR, but if you look closely at the artwork layered throughout the attraction you’ll see paleontologists fussing with time travel devices and dinosaurs hoping to escape the impending meteorite.
As the story of DinoLand U.S.A. goes, Chester and Hester’s gas station existed before fossils were found by the staff at the Dino Institute. When the Dino Institute staff started offering tours back to the Cretaceous period, Chester and Hester just had to get in on the action with “tours” of their own, so Primeval Whirl was built in the parking lot of the gas station along with the rest of the Dino-Rama carnival to keep the cash flow coming in from visitors to the Institute.
Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures is Full of Nods to Classic American Roadside Attractions
This gas station turned general store features a variety of models and kitschy dinosaur souvenirs the husband and wife team had collected over the years, along with Sinclair
Mold-A-Rama dinosaurs and even a photo of the happy couple. While many Guests only breeze through Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures after they take the scenic route exiting the DINOSAUR ride, consider spending some time in there finding all of the small details that really help bring to life the story of DinoLand U.S.A.
Try Your Luck (and Your Skills!) at the Fossil Fun Games!
Contrary to most carnival games you may find at your local fair, the games in DinoLand U.S.A. are not rigged at all. Every game with the exception of Comet Crasher is a game of skill. There are certainly tricks carnivals can employ to effectively rig games like Brontoscore (basketball) or Mammoth Marathon (skeeball), but you won’t find any of those techniques used in DinoLand.
Comet Crasher, the ball toss game, is the only game of luck in Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, but that is not to say that it’s rigged. Plenty of Guests walk away from this ball toss game with the largest prizes available, and if you’ve won a couple of smaller prizes you can always ask the Cast Members about trading up!
