‘Critical Thinking in the ELT Classroom’
Many people inside (and outside) of education have been talking about
21st century skills and the ‘magical’ 4C’s for several years – however much
of this has been done by people who do NOT walk their talk. In essence,
21st century skills and the 4C’s are organising principles that can be used
by teachers – to improve and expand the learning and success of students.
Teachers still need support to help them breathe life into these concepts in
the classroom.
In this session, Tony will cut through the ‘noise’ and, by telling his own story
as a teacher, demonstrate how 21st century skills and the 4C’s are part of the
natural evolutionary process of becoming an effective and creative language
teacher.
He will pay particular attention to Critical Thinking and highlight a range
of creative classroom activities and best-practice ideas from around the
world – ideas that liberate learners, create today’s thinkers and prepare the
groundwork for tomorrow’s achievers.

‘SMART Objectives for Smart Teachers’
This workshop explores how teachers can use the freely available Global Scale
of English (GSE) resources to set their learners SMART (Specific, Measureable,
Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound) objectives, monitor progress and create
content. Learn more about GSE Grammar and Vocabulary and see how the
GSE Teacher Toolkit can save you time..
