 2021’S HOTTEST NEW CARS
Whatever else you might say about this year, at least we can agree it’s shaping up to be a good one for cars. Here are the new machines we’re most hyped to drive in 2021

 YOLOMOBILE
“The worldwide economic situation does not really have a big impact on Porsche sales, as you can see in our general results last year. Maybe it’s a little bit like a YOLO effect — you only live once — and people are keen to reward themselves and buy their dream car a little bit sooner than maybe they planned in life.” — Andreas Preu- ninger, the head of Porsche’s GT division, on Porsche’s world- wide sales last year.

    RIVIAN R1S
Since coming out of stealth mode in 2018, the Michigan-headquartered Rivian has gradu- ally established itself as the electric startup to watch. Its electric delivery vans are already on the road delivering Amazon packages. Their R1T pickup truck helped Ewan McGregor on his Long Way Up all-electric road trip through South America. And, later this year, the first Rivian customers should be getting their Illi- nois-built R1S SUV and R1T pickups. They’ve got more than 480 km of range packaged in a modern Scandinavian style that we can’t get enough of.
PORSCHE 911 GT3
Your gearhead friends can barely contain their excitement about the spicy new GT3. It’s hot. Of course, we’d expect nothing less from Porsche’s elite GT division, which reliably creates the purest drivers’ cars in the world. An all-new GT3 is a big deal. The 992-gen car comes equipped with all the good stuff: six-speed manual box, rear-wheel drive, and clairvoyant steering. Its new additions include multi-link front suspension (a first for a road-going 911) and a wing worthy of a 747. The NA 4.0-litre flat-six spins freely to 9,000 rpm and makes 503 hp. Yikes.
