In a triumphant return, Art Basel took to the shores of Miami Beach for its 2021 American edition, where BMW took the opportunity to debut an all-new concept vehicle, the BMW Concept XM. The event showcased an original sculpture by New York–based artist Kennedy Yanko, which drew inspiration from
a conversation with Grammy Award–winning artist and hip hop icon, Nas. Named Intrinsic Sage, Yanko’s sculpture highlighted the interconnectedness of paint, skin, and metal in its creation and explored the feeling of power that comes from following your creative instincts and trusting your intuition. Set against the backdrop of BMW’s new concept car and Yanko’s sculpture, NAS regaled the crowd of onlookers with a special performance that included a mix of classic cuts from years past, as well as tracks from his latest studio efforts King’s Disease II and Magic.
