This spring, the Toronto Biennial of Art will welcome back a roster of talented Canadian and international artists for
the second edition of the city-wide celebration of art. Among the 37 artists is Andrea Carlson, an Ojibwe mixed-media artist who currently resides in Chicago. Many of Carlson’s pieces play with the concepts of perspective, horizon, and the body’s sense of space and place. Her
38 Never Ending Monument installation includes a multi-panel drawing called Cast a Shadow that challenges one’s perspective, as the viewer is encouraged to move around its perimeter to fully engage with the work.
“Never Ending Monument” is on view until June 5, 2022 at the Toronto Biennial of Art. For more information, visit torontobiennial.org.
