Paper Games
This fall, Toronto’s Museum of Contemporary Art will show the work
of internationally acclaimed German sculptor and photographer Thomas Demand. The exhibition, entitled “House of Card,” features large-scale photographs of three-dimensional models that Demand creates from paper and cardboard. Initially produced and presented by Belgium’s Museum Leuven in 2020 under the curatorship of Valerie Verhack, the exhibition explores the beauty that lies at the intersections of architecture, model- making, and collaborative processes.
“House of Card” is on view at MOCA until January 2023.

New Traditions
Embrace the beauty of nature and sustainability with Gombad, a newly launched ethical luxury fashion brand. The brand’s Iranian-born founder, Golnar Khalesi, spent much of her childhood living in and travelling to different countries. At every step of the way, Khalesi was learning and collecting different traditions and crafts from across the globe. And now, she’s putting them to good use. Gombad’s debut collection of handmade bags is a celebration of Persian craftsmanship. Each bag is created using the ancient Persian art of inlaying called Khätam-kari, a 22-step process that can take up to two months from start to finish.
