This October, the Royal Ontario Museum welcomes “Being Legendary,” a major new solo exhibition created by acclaimed Cree visual artist Kent Monkman. Narrated by Monkman’s shape- shifting, time-travelling, gender-fluid alter ego Miss Chief Eagle Testickle, the exhibition aims to transport visitors through time, from the prehistoric age through to the present, in the hopes of showcasing the deep art, science, and history of the Cree people. In creating this exhibition, Monkman hopes to shine a light on the beauty of the culture while acknowledging the interruptions and harm that Western culture has caused along the way. The story of “Being Legendary” brings together 35 new works that have been interspersed with the museum’s own holdings.
“Being Legendary” is on view at the ROM from October 8, 2022, to March 19, 2023.

Entitled Mycelium, Alexander McQueen’s latest fall/winter collection is all about connectivity and new growth, leaning into earthy textures, elements, and colours—greens, browns, khakis, and mushrooms—as a metaphor for the interconnection and community between people. In her own words, the brand’s creative director Sarah Burton explains that “we exist as single, individual entities on one level, but we are far more powerful connected to each other.”

Diptyque Paris has officially opened its doors to Canadian shoppers, unveiling the brand’s first stand-alone store in Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Inspired by the endless possibilities of a wandering imagination, the boutique’s details—from the facade to the mouldings and even the central fireplace—are meant to transport guests back to Paris. La pièce de résistence? A custom-made embroidered tapestry, curated by Kolkhoze Paris, that artfully mixes different yarns to create chic pastel colours that glint and shimmer from every direction. At the store, visitors can discover their own personal scent and shop a variety of Diptyque’s signature products, including its innovative home cleaning line.
