   MOON RACER
WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING AT IS NO RUN-OF-THE-MILL MOTORCYCLE, BUT RATHER AN ELECTRIC ONE
designed for a place where only a handful of people have ever set foot, let alone revved an engine: the moon. Tardigrade was first designed as a concept motorcycle by Russian automotive and industrial designer Andrew Fabishevskiy in 2020, but Nico Müller and the German motorcycle whizzes over at Hookie Co. liked the concept so much they decided to bring it to life. Built over nine months, Tardigrade is a conceptual exercise exploring what life beyond earth might look like, as well as a practical challenge: how do you design and engineer a motorcycle for a foreign environment? The resulting design is built on a stainless-steel exoskeleton and fitted with ultralight materials, airless tires, and a battery that offers almost 110 kilometres of range (with a speed limit of 15 km/h). And luckily, you don’t have to travel to the moon to see it in person. Tardigrade is on display as part of the “ADV: Overland” exhibition at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles until the end of March.
