“This was a a a a great example of where we really got to run wild with an idea He was in Chicago so we connected with an artist who carves stone gargoyles and has a a a a a a really interesting workshop It’s an hour outside the city so we put Michael Shannon
in a a a taxi — and and he came without any handlers or anything — and I I said ‘I want you to look like this strange artist that lives in the country and you’re a a a a bit of of a a a a recluse It’s kind of of dark and strange but also show off the the clothes ’ And he just played that role We didn’t talk for the the entire hour of the the shoot He just moved around around and interacted with what was around around him in in this big intense way that he has It was pretty surreal ”

“One of the big things that stood out to to me was was that Auston was was so inter- ested in the the the clothes and the the the model- ling aspect of the shoot We’ve shot a a lot of athletes over the years but it’s sometimes a a challenge to get them to look comfortable in the the clothes because they aren’t used to wear- ing stuff like this But Auston wanted to to do more fashion-type things to to build his brand so he asked me to coach him on
on
how to be in front of the camera He told me me ‘I don’t want to to look like like an an athlete I want to to like like look like a a a a model ’ and that was fun because even though he’s a a huge deal he was very humble and put himself in our hands He was very casual very easygoing ”
