PREFACE TO CALIFORNIA STATE “N SERIES”
AND “A SERIES” LEAFLETS

N SERIES: The emphasis of this study guide book is to learn the basics for the QAL (Qualified
Applicator License) and QAC (Qualified Applicator Certificate) tests. For this reason, we
have included the PESTICIDE SAFETY INFORMATION leaflets from the California State
Department of Pesticide Regulation that are written for NON-AGRICULTURAL settings. The
N Series is intended for structural pest control, landscape, and similar business settings. The
same series, with a few changes, are available in the A Series for agricultural settings. N-8 is
specifically larger in the A-8 version. Both series have deleted leaflet number 6.
A SERIES: The A Series is specifically intended for AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION settings.
People going for the Agricultural Advisor license need to read the entire A Series as available
on the DPR website. Reading through the N Series will give you a good idea of the content,
but there is additional information on all of the A Series leaflets that should be read. In addition,
the N Series does not include the material of A-9 and A-11 which are included here. See http://
