Our Mediterranean & North Africa
Clipper Cruise Adventure
W
ith each one of our ocean cruises, we wanted different
experiences. Then—when we first saw pictures of the
Royal Clipper—we knew this was the experience we had to
have!
We’ll be traveling with our friends, Dan and Patti Moffett, as we
begin our adventure starts with a week in Rome before
embarking on the 12-night cruise on the Royal Clipper from
Rome’s port at Civitavecchia to Lisbon.
While in Rome, we’ll be staying in Trastevere, enjoying the
narrow streets, and sights and sounds of the most picturesque
part of Rome. And, of course, the restaurants! We even
arranged our flight so we would arrive in time for dinner.
Along with the experience of a lifetime sailing on the world’s
largest sailing passenger ship, our cruise sails through the
Strait of Gibraltar and along the North Africa coast to Safi,
Casablanca, and Tangier.
From Safi, we spend a day in Marrakech. Then, on to
Casablanca to find Rick’s Café—well, a modern copy of it. In
Tangier, the Kasbah waits us.
Too bad we can’t take the Marrakech Express like in the song,
but that’s a train from Tangier—maybe next time. I’m sure the
lyrics will be in our heads on the three-hour bus ride through
the Moroccan desert.
This cruise is different from every other passenger cruise on
the planet. It’s all about being on the beautiful sailing ship, not
the overnight trips from port to port. We’ll be docking at many
ports later in the morning to enjoy a nice start to the day.
