   Chapter 2
“Miss Stacy, I am so sorry to say that your daughter died of a heart attack”, said the police officer.
“No! No! How shi dead suh?! Why shi ketch hart attack?!”, shouted Miss Stacy
“I am so sorry”, said the police officer.
She slowly walked away from the police officer and held Vincent by the hand.
“You live with me now boy”, said Miss Stacy.
Vincent walked along with his grandmother, with his head tilted towards the ground and his shoulders slouched.
They walked together towards Miss Stacy’s home; outside of the house was painted in baby pink with two square windows on each side. Around this house, trees and flowers were scarce as only one palm tree stood up with dull limbs that hung low. While approaching inside the house, his nostrils were filled with the smell of charcoal. The interior was painted in wine red and dark paintings laid flat against the walls. The lights were dimmed and the windows were covered with thick black drapes that caused a feeling of internal darkness.
