Chapter 1
One day, the morning sky was dominated by tumbling greys, as the rain sped down mercilessly upon the land, pounding on rooftops and pavements. Vincent speedily walked along the concrete pavements towards home from the local shop, shielded by his oversized rain coat, trying not to slip against the waterlogged ground. He hastily turned the metal doorknob and swung open the wooden door entering his home. Vincent fell to the floor, shocked by the image in his enlarged, watery eyes. He breathed in and out but the air wouldn’t enter his lungs. His heart raced against his rib cage while Marsha laid there, against the hardwood floors as still as stone, faced upwards with her eyes closed. “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! WAKE UP!”, cried Vincent.
His hands pounded against her body as he tried to shake her awake.
