This project was carried out in a laundry warehouse at “Soroka/University Medical Center” in Be'er- Sheva. This warehouse is an essential part of Soroka’s logistics system, responsible for managing and supplying laundry to all the various departments and units within this medical center. During this project, we examined how to determine an appropriate quantitative standard for distributing laundry to the various departments, while improving and streamlining the distribution process in a way that increases efficiency, reduces errors and improves departmental satisfaction. Our project conducted tests, measurements and observations to identify deficiencies in the process. We used work study methodologies and inventory management to determine the most appropriate standards.

This project focuses on improving and optimizing the production process at the “El Mundo” factory, specializing in frozen bread and pita. Key inefficiencies identified include a high return rate (10%), manual packaging issues, and suboptimal inventory management. Work-study methods were used to measure production breakdown times and to set standard benchmarks. A demand forecasting model was selected, and an inventory policy was proposed, based on demand forecasts and ordering costs. Simulations of current and proposed processes were conducted to assess improvements. The feasibility of investing in advanced cooling systems and automated packaging was analyzed using financial metrics, such as NPV and IRR. Recommendations include workforce optimization, process automation and better quality control.
