The goal of this project is to analyze the production process at the “Vichy Israel” plant in Be’er-Sheva, to identify challenges and propose engineering solutions. A literature review provided relevant models, followed by a work sampling study to assess workload distribution, machine efficiency, bottlenecks and standard production times. Demand forecasting methods were applied to estimate annual demand and determine the optimal inventory policy using the ‘economic order quantity’ (EOQ) model. Quality control techniques, including ‘statistical process control’ (SPC) and Pareto analysis, were implemented to reduce defects. Our analysis identified key inefficiencies, leading to targeted improvement recommendations. Implementation of these measures is expected to enhance efficiency, improve product quality and generate an estimated annual savings of 3,777 NIS.

This project focuses on improving the production process of solar and electric water heaters at “Ḥam Miyad.” The main objectives are to: optimize resource management; minimize raw material usage deviations; upgrade outdated machinery; enhance storage efficiency; and regulate workload distribution among employees. The research involves identifying production inefficiencies, reviewing the literature and analyzing data on material consumption and production rates. Work sampling and process mapping were used to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. A simulation model was developed to evaluate operational scenarios towards waste reduction and increased production. Our project also proposes an improved inventory control system and quality assurance measures, ensuring consistent product standards. Implementing these recommendations will increase productivity, reduce costs, and contribute to a more sustainable manufacturing process.
