BACKGROUND ON OUR SPORTING ACTIVITIES OVER THE COURSE OF CORONA
Digital Platforms
• We set up a private Facebook group “Sporting Competitors”- where four or five of our top sports counselors hosted daily classes. The classes were open to many of our clients and not just members of the sports center.
• We featured lectures from many leading experts including Facebook Live sessions that we opened up to the general public.
• We set up a Zoom channel with new content including sessions on music, writing, chess, mind games, breathing exercises, and more.
• We made every effort to ensure that our counselors remained in touch with past participants so that they could remain active and entertained throughout the lockdowns and periods of isolation.
• We held virtual classes for some of the departments in Eitanim and Kfar Shaul hospitals that were transmitted to screens in the department common areas.
Hostels and Communities
• The Summit Institute sports center staff would come every day to meet with two groups; the adolescents and the younger adolescents and give them a sports class in accordance with the current guidelines and restrictions.
• In addition, staff members came to 13 hostels in the greater Jerusalem area to provide in-person classes, most often in open spaces. (Hostel Kotev, Yedid Nefesh Hostel Beit Shemesh, Beit Giladi, Hostel Ofek, Beit V’Nof, Hostel HaMerkaz, Kehillat SHoshan, Hostel Hashalom- Beit Tzafafa, Hostel HaAtid, Beit Reuteinu, Kehilat Reuteinu).
