Full Electronic Medical records
BayCare has reached Stage Six of seven in the electronic
medical record (EMR) adoption model developed by
the Healthcare Information and Management Systems
Society (HIMSS), signifying that the health system has
achieved a full EMR. HIMSS is a global organization
known for thought leadership on improving health care
through information technology.
The HIMSS adoption model identifies and scores
hospitals using an eight-step scale (–) that charts
the path to a fully paperless environment. Less than
percent of U.S. hospitals and health systems
tracked by HIMSS Analytics have reached Stage Six
as they convert to a fully automated/paperless medical
records system.
