A-231: Plant Quarantine laboratory facilities are available and functional at all major ports
viz. Seaports, Airports, Land Frontier Station and important ICDs/CFS. These laboratories
having testing facilities for commodities imported/exported for consumption purposes
wherein inspection, testing and preliminary identifications of detected/intercepted pests are
performed. While import/export of propagating plant materials like live plants, seed, bulbs
and corms, which requires specific test for pathogenic, viral infection are permitted only at
RPQS New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Amritsar, Bangalore and Kolkata where advance PQ lab
facilities are available.
However, sometimes for in-depth studies/authentication the samples are referred
to Govt. Recognized research institute. No Laboratory testing fees charged from
Exporters/Importers for Export/Import consignments.
