• Among building energy efficiency measures, solar shading plays a significant role in reducing building energy

consumption for cooling. This study analysed the influence of solar protection on daylighting

• shading strategies that could be used in an urban environment With the expected increase in hot conditions due
to climate change

• Sun-shading or envelope design represents the 'first strategic line of defense' i.e. primary strategy in reducing heat gain

and thereby reducing energy use under a hot, humid climate.
