CLEANING ON THE MIND
Nearly nine in 10 of Brits say that having an untidy
or dirty home has a bearing
on their mood
More than half
say an untidy home makes
them
unhappy
One in four
say that an untidy home has a bearing on their productivity
How does mess meddle with our mood? Psychologist Rachel Morris explains
The state of
our environments
and the way we keep
and care for them is re ective of our state
of mind - and vice-versa (each has a marked effect on the other).
Studies have shown that people who live in cleaner and tidier environments tend to be healthier and more productive.
Clutter, disorganisation and mess in the home act as visual distractions, which break or prevent concentration, meaning we’re more likely to leave tasks un nished (if we’ve even begun them in the rst place).
A quarter of Brits will argue about housework
with their cohabitants at least once a week
