Setting our sights high.
State-of-the-art high bay warehouse
delta pronatura remains true to its motto “Made in Germany” by continuing to invest heavily in its Egelsbach headquarters.
In 2011, both the o ce complex and warehouse space were extended. And now the time has come for the next important step: by summer 2018, a state-of-the-art 1600m2 high-bay warehouse will be ready for use. 100 metres long, 16 metres wide and a proud 30 metres high. In Silo design, i.e. built from the inside out, it will provide eight rows of shelving, as well as boasting 15 even surfaces for 10 000 pallets. Our warehouses are organised according to the “chaotic storage” principle. In simple terms, this means our system seeks out the next best available space to store goods. Goods are identi ed by the Inventory management system in 500 m2 loading zone. They are provided with automatically legible tracking ID and managed by an IT-controlled warehouse system until they have been debited.
A sophisticated software solution ensures that chaotic warehousing functions e ectively.
“These investments will secure both jobs and our future.”
Gerhard Krauss
Once the high-bay warehouse has
been completed, our focus will turn to expanding production capacity: the bulk and lling facilities are due for a signi cant enlargement. “We need to expand because of constantly growing demand both domestically and abroad – since growth is becoming increasingly dynamic,” explaines CEO Heiner Beckmann. The high-bay warehouse will be connected to the existing buildings in the northern section of the factory complex. “The perfect starting point for positioning ourselves optimally in the future,” claims the delighted Project Leader and Head of Production and Logistics, Dr. Alfred Kürzinger, “in Egelsbach, only liquid Dr. Beckmann products are produced. Once the extension is nished, we will be in a position to ll 70 million bottles per year. In other words, twice today’s volume.”
A short interview with Dr. Alfred Kürzinger:
What advantages do the new buildings provide?
The expansion is enabling us to create the necessary space to continue serving our customers in the reliable way they have come to value from us. On top of that, there will be more surfaces available to adapt both lling capacity and mixing to ever-growing demand.
Will this create new jobs?
Realistically speaking, the new mixing department and lling lines are bound to become even more automated than they are today. We are implementing many things that fall under the digitalisation heading – but there will always be people to serve and manage the plants at delta pronatura. So yes, we will be creating additional jobs.
