My father passed away recently.
It was a long and arduous death as I watched the ravages of cancer take over his body. The man who always seemed larger than life to me wasted away to a skeleton while I watched...hopelessly. I say these words not to invoke sympathy but to make the reader understand what happened after he was gone. Suddenly, as if out of nowhere, crushing waves of grief would wash over me and I would be helpless to do anything but to let each wave crash, return to the ocean to gain more strength, and then to crash over me again. It was in those moments that I felt like I was underwater and that I just couldn’t breathe.
Reminding myself to breathe became my mantra. Over and over again I would say it to myself much like Cinderella in the movie Ever After when she is about to walk into the ball...Breathe. Just Breathe. How often do we let the ocean waves crash over us and forget to breathe? When we are stressed, or scared or overwhelmed? What if we took a moment...just one tiny moment...and reminded ourselves to breathe. Dear readers, I hope that you will stop and take this moment to breathe. Take this moment right here and right now to feel the air come into your body and to slowly release that air with all of your intention. Now...doesn’t that feel good? I hope that you, like me, can almost feel a tiny portion of all of that weight of the world that has been placed on your shoulders to have lessened just a bit. This is what Infinity Wellness is all about. Taking the time to find things that make you feel good. Finding things that make you believe that there is hope no matter how miniscule or far away it may all seem. That is my definition of Magic. And we could all use a little magic in our lives.
