                 Dance Scholarships
Dance has been a major area of growth for Seaford in the last few years and Seaford's new dance studio in the Johnson Centre is the perfect place for any aspiring dancer to hone their craft.
Seaford College offers Dance Scholarships to students who have a strong passion for dance and who are willing to make a full contribution to dance at the College, including participating in a wide range of dance activities and performances. These scholarships are available for students who demonstrate potential in one or more dance styles.
Scholars will receive a 50% reduction on any dance classes received in school.
The Application Process at 11+, 13+ and 16+
Awards are made on the basis of an audition and a short interview with the Head of Dance. Candidates should arrive in appropriate dance attire, ready to audition and participate in a technique class.
During the audition candidates will be asked to:
• Perform two contrasting pieces each 1 to 1:30 minutes long (please bring your music with you on a CD or on a memory stick)
• Participate in a technique class which will include some improvisation
The interview will allow candidates to demonstrate their experience and commitment to developing their dance skills. It should be noted that Dance Scholarships are awarded and maintained on the basis of ongoing involvement in dance at the College.
Successful candidates will be expected:
• To take Dance as an option subject
• To participate in all activities involving dance
 Isabel Bramsden, Dance
I was excited to be awarded my Dance Scholarship, it was good to be recognised as a dancer. I enjoy the Ballet and Modern Dance lessons at Seaford. I love Dance at Seaford because you get the time to practise, if it’s something hard I can work on perfecting it. The Dance Studio is fantastic, it has the right floor so it’s easier to do tricks on.
Ms Bennett is a good teacher, she challenges us and gets us to choreograph our own performances, and I enjoy the challenge. Seaford has dedicated dance shows and I love this opportunity to perform. In
the last show, I enjoyed performing the duet with my sister who’s also a Dance Scholar. I also like working with other scholars, we can produce something really good and it raises my level of dance. We learn and inspire each other. In Seaford’s main productions I also get to dance. I loved performing the dance scenes in The Sound of Music and Guys & Dolls.
I did GCSE Dance and I want to continue with Dance in the Sixth Form. In the future I’m going do something related to dance. I may even teach Dance and have my own Dance School.
