Planning an Effective Revision Programme
All successful revision plans have been worked out in advance and committed to. In order to commit to a revision plan, it needs to be realistic, thorough and organised. All subjects, whether you like them or not, need to have equal share of the time available in the revision programme to ensure all your revision list is covered. Rest, relaxation and commitments will be included in the planned schedule, because they are a crucial part of the process.
You will have had a one-to-one discussion with your tutor before Christmas, and discussed your revision programme for the Christmas holidays. Many of you have taken advantage of structuring your time during the week, filling in the supervised prep sessions with specific subject revision or coursework targets, so are already following a small routine. If this is repeated over the holidays, you will be in a positive position in January when you are entering the exam hall.
Get yourself organised before you leave for the Christmas holidays. Many of you have taken the initiative of talking to your form tutors, learning support teachers, class teachers and boarding tutors already.
We had Study Sensai and The Life Skills Company working with us this term, running seminars in Year 10 and at the start of Year 11, and they will be back in the run up to the exams in the summer. Some of the ideas given by them are presented on the following pages. These tools are essential to your revision. Ensure that you use the techniques they suggested to revise. You should now be in a position to know which revision techniques work best for you.
