Case Statement Our Chapter The Upsilon Chapter of Beta Theta Pi was originally founded in 1858, and has existed in its current form since 2010 after a re/ colonization effort. Since its return, the chapter has been home for members of student body government, athletes, and future Entrepreneurs. The chapter holds strict expectations in academic pursuits, social decorum, and on-campus involvement. We are proud to announce that our average chapter GPA for Fall 2014 was 3.38, in comparison to the 3.10 all fraternity average on campus. More specifcally, our average house resident GPA was 3.42, highlighting the positive academic environment a chapter house provides. As more members come into our fold and the chapter continues to establish itself as the premiere fraternal organization at the University of South Carolina, we look to continue building bridges for those who will follow. Our Need The Greek community at the University of South Carolina is in an ongoing period of expansion, both in number of members and chapters. As a result, there will be an extension of the Greek Village, which will give Greek organizations the opportunity to build new houses to increase their on-campus presence and reputation. While Upsilon has appreciated the opportunity to lease facilities from other organizations, we have always maintained the position of building the future of our chapter with a house of our own. This will help us to continue our strong recruiting efforts, providing frst-rate living and dining facilities, and truly building a home on campus. Our Goal The purpose of this campaign is to secure the needed funds to begin building a chapter house, and expand the Upsilon legacy for the future generation of Beta Theta Pi at the University of South Carolina. The house will provide living quarters for 35 men, as well as study rooms, a full-service dining facility, and common rooms where every brother may come to enjoy their time between classes. To secure the needed amount of money to ensure fnancing and a down payment on Upsilon’s house, the Campaign needs to raise a total of $700,000. We humbly ask that every brother, parent, alumnus and Friend of Beta consider a 5 year pledge to the campaign. Your commitment will be greatly appreciated. With your support, we will build a house that the members of Upsilon can be proud to call their own for generations to come.
