CHURCHILL, MANITOBA: POLAR BEARS ON THE BAY
Join Brookfield Zoo members in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada—the polar bear
capital of the world.
Upon arriving in Churchill, start your trip with a dog sledding excursion led by
a local resident and dog sledding expert who will teach you about dog handling
philosophy. The team of friendly dogs will take you on a mile-long ride through
the northern boreal forest.
You will then spend a two-day overnight trip on the tundra. Look for polar bears
in their natural habitat from the comfort of a Tundra Buggy, while listening to
in-field lectures by experts from Polar Bears International.
While exploring the desert-like tundra and northern sections of the boreal forest,
also keep your eye out for ringed-seals and Arctic foxes.
Bill Zeigler, the Chicago Zoological Society’s senior vice
president of animal programs, will lead this trip.
Please call (708) 688-8348 or go to
October 11 to 15, 2018 CZS.org/TravelPrograms for a full
itinerary and pricing.
