A Day in the Life continued

Can you describe a
particularly memorable
experience you’ve had
working at the zoo?

There are definitely many memorable
experiences, but the one that immediately
jumps to mind is the day we found Togo
slippery frog tadpoles. These frogs are critically
endangered, and we’re the only zoo in North
America to house this species. We had been
trying to breed them, but the first few batches
of eggs unfortunately weren’t viable.

The day I saw the first tadpoles, I couldn’t
believe my eyes. I immediately radio-ed our
entire team and told them they had to get
over here immediately—I sounded so frantic,
people thought there was an emergency!
When they saw what I was seeing, everyone
just got the hugest grins and started high-fiving.
We did something that nobody else had ever
done! It was just an incredible feeling.
