7. Use your Smartphone video camera
Most smartphones have amazing optics these days. Be sure to capture in horizontal
orientation, unless you are shooting exclusively for Facebook LIVE or other in-the-mo-
ment mobile only view applications. Also, use the high resolution camera lens (usually on
the back of your smartphone) rather than the FaceTime camera which is located on the
front of it.
8. Work the camera
The goal of any video is to engage the audience. Viewers will feel more comfortable
and connected if you smile, look directly into the camera (eye contact), and use a slow-
er cadence when you speak. Remember: you aren’t actually talking to the camera… you
are taking to your audience who are viewing “behind” the camera.
9. Shoot from a variety of angles
Cutting from one angle to another is a good (and simple) way to add visual interest
to your professional videos. This is an especially useful technique if you’re making a
how-to video, a product demo, or another type of video that shows you doing something
rather than just talking.
10. Transfer full sized video files to Hughes Integrated
Compressing videos reduces quality that cannot be reversed. Use transfer software, like
Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer to send large files to our team.
Our team of expert technicians are happy
to assist you with any questions.
