MINISTRy ON THE MOVE IN FRANKLIN COUNTY
The heartbeat of De- cherd Christian Center is “Changing Lives to Change Our World”.
Pastor Larry Bradford is living the vision the Lord laid on his heart as his congregation and he demonstrate God’s un- conditional love in their ministry to the lost.
To Pastor Larry, it’s not just a sermon every Sunday morning, as he is involved in ministry to the lost and needy every day and night of the week.
Pastor Larry’s vision for those who know the Lord is to teach God’s Word to them in a way
that will bring people to spiritual maturity in Jesus Christ through the obedience to His Holy Word.
Pastor Larry believes his greatest sermon will not be behind his pulpit but to those he reaches out to daily that desperately need God’s touch in their lives.

An interview with Decherd Christian Center Pastor Larry Bradford
 INTERVIEWER:
“How did you receive your call to ministry?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“I gave my life to Christ in 1982. As I began to pursue Jesus, the closer I got to Him, the more I knew He had a work for me to do. I attended church here for 5 years. During this time I gave myself wholly to Jesus. Over the years I felt an assurance in my heart that I would one day be in ministry. This became a reality in 1987 when this church needed a pastor. I answered the call and I have been here for 33 years.”
INTERVIEWER:
“What are some of the most important qualities you believe a minister needs to work in ministry?”
PASTOR LARRY:
1. Integrity, honesty, is of the utmost importance. It’s not what we say, but how we live.
2. Preparation is so vital. Before God can really use us in min- istry, He must first perform a deep spiritual work within us.
3. Denying ourselves, dying to self and our own fleshly ambi- tions and desires are the keys to spiritual victory.
4.It is imperative that we live a cross centered life.
5. Being the right kind of example to others.
INTERVIEWER:
“Do you have a scripture foundation for your ministry?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. And Psalms 82:3-4 ‘Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. De- liver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked.”
INTERVIEWER:
“What Bible figure do you most relate to in ministry?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“Jeremiah – used by God to speak the word of the Lord in the midst of turmoil and discomfort.”
INTERVIEWER:
“Who do you feel is the main group of people you are called to reach?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“I have always felt a call to minister to those who are down and out as well as those who are up and out. But, I can’t just stop the call there. I know that I am also called to those who are truly desiring to change their lives and are hungry for truth. I believe when the Gospel is preached, no matter where we are on life’s social scale, the Gospel has
the power to meet our every need.”
Daniel 5:27
INTERVIEWER:
“If you could personally meet with God what would you say to Him?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“I love you Lord. Thank you for saving me and giving me a brand new life. Thank you for your faithfulness to me. I am sorry for the times I have not been all that I should be. Thank you for not giving up on me and giving me the chance to share your love with others.”
INTERVIEWER:
“What would you like to hear God say to you?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“When my life is over and I enter into His presence I would love to hear the words, ‘Well done good and faithful servant, enter in’!”
INTERVIEWER:
“Where would you like to see your ministry in 5 years?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“In five years, I would like to be right here pastoring those who are serious about following Jesus. I would like to expand our outreach to those who need a helping hand. I am believing we will have additional housing facilities so we can meet the needs of others. I want to be about our Heavenly Father’s business even then as I am now and training people for life and ministry.”
INTERVIEWER:
“And over all these years of ministry you never got married?”
PASTOR LARRY:
“No, I have just been following Jesus, and I have not been blessed with a wife. Who knows, maybe someday.”
INTERVIEWER:
“Thank you for your time Pastor Larry. Your answers were appreciated.”
