Now I am an intelligent, highly educated man. It did not escape me that a third party might see this apparition as not actually Karina, but a figment of my imagination representing my conscience. But I was there, in person. I saw her, I heard her, I felt her. She was real. And this time she brought Katie, no doubt an effort to make the obvious comparison to Rachel’s unborn child. But there existed no such comparison. Katie was an angel who walked upon the earth. In direct contrast, Rachel’s bastard child epitomized evil. How would it be fair to let this selfish bitch live and raise a child when I had been denied such joy?
