I flipped the last page over and there on the back were the usual charity ads targeting those who were obviously wealthy enough to reside in this publication’s delivery area. “Good” Lance, the one with Karina by his side, would send checks to many of the worthy causes listed in this section. But today, I scoffed at the lazy indigents asking for my hard- earned money, muttering “Get a job ya buncha losers,” as I folded the paper to put it in the trash. The words of an ad became visible after folding the paper, as they seemed to stare up at me: HRP –

underneath, I learned that a group of do-gooders were seeking sponsors for ex-criminals to assist them in acclimating back into society after serving significant jail time for various felonies. It was an adopt-a-con! The wheels began turning in my mind and I had to find out more. Linking it to my own theory: “The universe will pull together certain circumstances. It is up to us to recognize and act upon what we are being offered” I realized I’d found my puppet. Carefully packing the pages of my unfinished Ravenge plan and the newspaper, I drove back to Manhattan the next day.
